On 18 April the EU-funded project “EQUAL – EU 4 Women Empowerment in Armenia”, implemented by OXYGEN Foundation, in partnership with European Partnership for Democracy, Netherland Helsinki Committee, Women’s Development Resource Center-WINNET Goris, Women’s Support Center and WINNET Sweden, was launched. It aims to elevate and empower women to bring about societal change in Armenia with the specific focus on Ararat, Vayots Dzor, Kotayk, Armavir, Syunik, Shirak, Lori and Tavush marzes.
EQUAL will provide women duly support to exercise their political, economic and socio-cultural rights, targeting specifically those from vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. On this occasion, the EU Ambassador to Armenia, Andrea Wiktorin, said: “Empowering women in Armenia is not only a moral imperative, but also a real investment in the country’s future. By promoting gender equality, breaking down barriers, and creating more opportunities for women to participate fully in all aspects of society, we can unlock their full potential and drive progress towards a more just and prosperous Armenia. Let us all work together towards a brighter future, where all women in Armenia can realise their dreams and ambitions, and contribute to the growth and prosperity of their communities and country”.
