On April 11, 2018, deputies of the National Assembly “Yelk” faction, Lena Nazaryan and Ararat Mirzoyan, approaching the podium of the parliament, “lit the torch of freedom” and spread the blue smoke in the hall of the National Assembly with the help of burning smoke launchers. The so-called “civil society” and Facebook-Armenians received it joyfully.
When on February 13 of the same year, at the session of the Yerevan Council of Elders, Marina Khachatryan, a representative of the ” Yerkir tsirani – Apricot Country” faction, showed her intention to pour dirty water on Mayor Taron Margaryan, those same circles were not particularly offended, if not they welcomed it.
They were political actions. One can share or not share the views of those carrying out these actions, and the way of execution can also be disliked, but such manifestations are an accepted phenomenon in the parliamentary practice, and there is nothing particularly unusual about them.
I had the same attitude regarding Taguhi Tovmasyan’s action yesterday. Those who applauded Lena Nazaryan and Marina Khachatryan should understand the MP’s actions yesterday. But not; In this case, those same circles are agitated: how can such a thing be done near the number one podium of the republic? And as justification for the negative attitude, the accusation of changing camps is voiced. It must be said that double standards are manifested in this issue as well. The team changing of Shirak Torosyan and Sergey Bagratyan is considered a completely normal phenomenon, and this one is a betrayal of the principles.

Taguhi Tovmasyan’s action was preceded by the Prime Minister’s accusations from the same podium, which, according to all, were directed against that deputy. Pashinyan, staying true to his style, does not bring political arguments into the political debate but uses “personal compromise” as if one of his former teammate MPs secretly recorded him and passed that recording to Serzh Sargsyan.
I’m not sure it’s even technically possible, but making such “arguments,” says a lot about the nature of our government. As well as the confession that people are “grabbed by the ears and made MPs.”
