Questions about the “citizen”

April 29,2023 10:33

If we take a general look at the 32-year history of our State, it can be said that it is also a history of discrediting certain “correct” words or concepts. In 1991-98, “market relations” and “freedom” were negated. In 1998-2018: “patriotism,” “national aspirations,” and “visions.” In 2018, it was the turn of the “citizen.”

As a result, we could not build natural market relations; we could not realize our dreams or educate a free citizen responsible for his State.

The government celebrates not the “Citizen’s day,” but it’s coming to power, which, according to a recently adopted expression, “opened a new historical page.” It really, it was opened the page of defeats and national humiliations.

But, until 2018, the perception of the national was also discredited; this humiliation did not cause much pain to society. That happens under a kind of “general anesthesia.”

To understand that “Citizen’s day” is just a day of revolution, let’s do a simple thought experiment and imagine if that day will also be celebrated after the change of power. Of course not: like November 7 is not celebrated now.

And a few more questions; Can a citizen (in the informal, meaningful sense of the word) be indifferent to the loss of even 5 meters of the territory of his State? Can he worship spitting, cursing, and kicking government?

And if we go deeper, does the citizen have more rights today than before 2018? Or does he no longer want to have those rights?
