“I will show in the immediate area what danger the enemy’s presence in the territory of Armenia poses for the city of Jermuk. The total surface penetrated area is 60.06 square kilometers, with a front of about 11 km and a depth of about 8 km.
According to our assessment, the armed forces of Azerbaijan were aiming to attack the city of Jermuk and inflict serious economic blows on Armenia,” said Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Edward Asryan, in a meeting with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in Jermuk.
He told Mrs. Colonna right on the spot that in 2022, as a result of the military operations of September 13-14, how did the enemy invade the sovereign territory of Armenia?
According to Edward Asryan, after the end of the 44-day war, the first steps of the enemy started on May 12, 2021.

“At that time, the actions resembled the implementation of problems with the use of soft power, and on September 13-14, 2022, they were military aggression against Armenia.
At the same time, the enemy’s actions using rockets, jets, artillery, and anti-aircraft missiles hit not only military objects but also economic and political objects. Significant damages were done to the civil infrastructures, the city of Jermuk also suffered substantial damages, until now the cable car is not working,” said Asryan.
According to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, the enemy’s actions at that time were not only in the direction of Vayots Dzor and Jermuk but four more in Syunik Province, in 2 main directions, in Gegharkunik Province, in 2 directions, in total, in 5 directions. As a result of military operations, Armenia suffered human and territorial losses at that time. “Currently, the enemy is located in the sovereign territory of Armenia in an area of about 139 square kilometers,” argued Asryan.
