At the joint press conference of Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, to the question: why the appeals of international bodies, the decision of the Hague Court do not affect the actions of Azerbaijan, what practical steps should be taken to eliminate the blockade of the Lachin Corridor and the people of Artsakh should refrain from ethnic cleansing, Catherine Colonna answered that these unilateral steps could not contribute to the peace process; “If there is this principled position and the international community shares it, the international court of justice, there is a process in which RA has boldly participated, and it is necessary to expand this process, to nourish it. We have not discussed new meetings, but it is important to build on what was achieved in Prague and try to find some points of agreement in the upcoming meetings.” To the French journalist’s question, are you in a positive mood for negotiations under European and American auspices, Russian auspices, or both? Is it possible, Ararat Mirzoyan answered.
“We had the opportunity to present the position of the Armenian side several times. We do not differentiate between the platforms, the peace process is one, and the negotiations are going on the same peace treaty. We are grateful to all the capitals that provide a platform and try to bridge this process, but at least for RA, the issue is not set to negotiate in Moscow, Washington, or Brussels. Negotiations are essentially one and the same.”
To the question: the Azerbaijani side announced that the Armenian side was offered to implement a transparent control system in the Lachin Corridor, but they refused, and they did it alone; whether such a proposal was made to Yerevan, Ararat Mirzoyan answered that what Azerbaijan is doing is absolutely illegal and should be eliminated as soon as possible.
“Everything else that may concern the rights of the Nagorno-Karabakh people can be discussed in an internationally transparent format. Public demands or proposals, it is difficult to make a distinction from the Azerbaijani side regarding the establishment of border posts in the Lachin Corridor, have been heard; we are not going to engage in the discussion of these proposals.”
