I want to address my words to the Russian soldiers and peacekeepers standing here by our side. By installing this checkpoint, the Azerbaijanis did it against you. They want you not to be here, to tear you apart every day, to get you out of here. They want Armenians to be disappointed in every possible way. But it won’t happen.
Ruben Vardanyan, Co-Founder of the “We are Our Mountains” territorial development agency and Former Minister of State of the Republic of Artsakh, announced in his speech at the rally organized by the initiative group “No to Ethnic Cleansing of Artsakh” on May 9 in Stepanakert’s Renaissance Square.
“We went through the Great Patriotic War together; we are next to each other now. Azerbaijan will be unable to achieve its goal and remove the peacekeepers from Artsakh in any way. I am sure that you also understand this, and we must stand side by side so that you fulfill your duties. Do your duties the right way. Yes, I know it’s difficult, but you have to do it, and we will stand by you,” Ruben Vardanyan called meanwhile addressing international organizations and leaders of different countries. “Where’s your dignity? Azerbaijan spits on you and declares that it will not obey any court decision; it will not obey any agreement. What is it: Don’t you have dignity, don’t you have power, can’t you say: Azerbaijan, who are you, fulfill your responsibilities?”

According to him, the only way is to preserve our dignity; others would feel guilty and change their attitude. “All our leaders should understand that during the Patriotic War, you are not a leader but a head leader. Your every word, step, and demeanor is significant to people. We have a powerful energy; I feel it every day. It requires people who have the opportunity to take responsibility and bring us all together. That we become a whole circle, a wall that will protect our homeland,” he said.
