“First of all, everything should be done so that the Russian peacekeepers fulfill the document signed on November 9,” said the initiator of the “Future Armenian” Movement and Co-Founder of the “Aurora” humanitarian initiative, the former Minister of State of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan during an online meeting entitled “The problem of Artsakh is the problem of 10 million Armenians”, addressing the question: what can we do to extend the term of activity of Russian peacekeepers after two years? In his opinion, the number of Russian peacekeepers is relatively tiny.
But on the other hand, he noticed that the Russian peacekeepers should feel a clear position from the state and society. He mentioned: “It is important for the state and the people to be together. We will do everything to ensure that the Russian peacekeepers stay. The anti-Russian sentiments that are being tried to transfer from Armenia to Russia favor Azerbaijan.
Those who spread those sentiments should be asked who else is taking the defense issues upon themselves. In this way, we are helping Azerbaijan, which is doing everything daily, get the Russians out of here and to destroy their reputation. It makes it easier not to renew the contract after two years. We should not help Azerbaijan.”
Ruben Vardanyan answered the question: In the RA-Azerbaijan negotiations, the Azerbaijani authorities set an essential condition for the beginning of the dialogue: you leave Artsakh. Is it true? “It is not like that, but Azerbaijan is applying aggressive pressure and doing everything to prevent consolidation within Artsakh.”
