There is a problem; the problem exists

May 17,2023 10:30

The Government of Armenia, through the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, once again complained about Russia. According to the official, we are not getting the weapons that we ordered and for which we paid to Russia. Grigoryan also said there were discussions in Armenia’s leadership circles about leaving the CSTO, which is a natural reaction.

I do not doubt that the information given by the Secretary of the Security Council is correct. But I suggest you consider whether these complaints help or hinder the solution to our problems. Is Mr. Grigoryan waiting for the Russians to say: “The man is speaking the right things? Let’s correct our mistake and give the Armenians the weapons they demanded. Let’s fulfill our duties within the framework of the CSTO and protect Armenia from Azerbaijani aggression.” Undoubtedly, the Armenian official does not expect such a reaction.

What, then, is the purpose of such complaints? Who are we complaining to? I can only assume that the addressee of the protests is the West. Look, kind, democratic and civilized uncles, when your equally democratic small brothers are being harassed, do something. But no matter how much we are “the excellent of democracy” in the eyes of the West, no matter how hostile Russia and the West treat each other, Europe and the West will not take any serious steps against Azerbaijan. In particular, there is no point in waiting for weapons from there. Yes, China, India, and Iran can be our partners. However, these countries will not be affected by our complaints toward Russia.

But we also need to work with Russia. I have already had a chance to say this work cannot be 100% public and “official.” As with other central states, say, the USA and China, half of the work should be hardware, behind the scenes, during which different circles of Armenia (or, in a broader sense, Armenians) should have connections, as it is customary to say, “with different towers of Kremlin. ” In any case, press publications or interviews do not affect those “towers” positively, maybe even negatively.

If military cooperation with Russia was working before 2018, but now it is not, then there is a problem. The problem exists.
