The draft proposes to formulate 19 notions in a new edition, to comply with the acts of the World Postal Union and the European Union Postal Regulations, to edit the principles of activity in the field of postal communication, to clarify its types, to define the scope of universal postal communication services in a new edition, the quality standards of its delivery, the provisions regarding control, such as also to establish appropriate legal bases and authorized norms for the adoption of sub-legislative normative or other legal acts.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of High-tech Industry Davit Sahakyan at the sitting of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs during the second reading debate of the draft laws on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Postal Communication and on Amending the Law on Special Delivery of Documents on May 17.
The draft was supplemented with a new provision, which defined the regulations for ensuring the privacy of the postal communication field by the operators of postal communication and courier communication, as well as for holding them accountable in the manner set by the legislation.
According to the key rapporteur, with the adoption of the draft, it is expected to improve the field of postal communication and delivery mechanisms, to introduce a reporting mechanism.

Davit Sahakyan stated that the deputies suggested making several editorial and technical amendments in the draft, which were adopted by the Ministry.
The Committee endorsed the draft. It will be included in the agenda of the upcoming plenary sessions.
