“I listened to Nikol Pashinyan’s press conference, and as RA NA deputy Gurgen Arsenyan, I declare my full support for the policies implemented by Nikol Pashinyan, including his efforts to establish the peace agenda. I will defend with both hands the process that will bring peace to the neighboring country, including mutual recognition of territorial integrity, according to the 1991 borders established by the CIS countries.
Once again, I reaffirm the support of our political team to the Prime Minister of Armenia in peace with neighboring Azerbaijan and normalization of relations with neighboring Turkey,” RA NA MP Gurgen Arsenyan said in the National Assembly.
Journalists noted that Artsakh does not want to be a part of Azerbaijan, to which Arsenyan responded by saying that Armenian politicians received a mandate from Armenian citizens to serve the state interests of the Republic of Armenia and those who believe that any other issue can be subordinated, they carry out anti-state activities against the interests of the Republic of Armenia.
“Yes, Armenians live in Artsakh. But Armenians also live in Javakhk, Glendale, Australia,” said Arsenyan. “What Nikol Pashinyan’s team is doing is right. Sometimes the state and national interests may require different things; in such situations, the right thing is to prioritize the state interest. As for the criticisms of my friend Arayik Harutyunyan, he is the legal representative of Artsakh and voices his opinion; we cannot restrict anyone,” said the deputy.

Journalists reminded the ruling team of the provisions on the de-occupation of Hadrut and Shushi, but in this regard, Arsenyan only assured that the rights of Artsakh Armenians and the return of refugees to their former settlements are always discussed in the negotiations conducted by Nikol Pashinyan. According to him, in the plan of the government, their team outlined wishes and desires, but reality should be taken into account, after all, according to Arsenyan, no government in the world fully implements its plan. “The Republic of Armenia, our team has no ambitions to expand the territories.
We have the territory of Armenia, which we will protect, we have no ambitions for the territories of other states, and our opponents are talking about that. In addition, it became painfully clear that our invincibility was just a myth and now we cannot afford to feed our people with illusions again. The territory of Karabakh is included in the area of 86 thousand square kilometers mentioned by the Prime Minister. We need Karabakh, we need Javakhk, we also need Australia, but we need to understand whether you can keep what you need,” said Arsenyan.
The deputy countered the journalists’ claim that Artsakh is the second Armenian state, urging him to bring and show him the document by which Armenia recognized Artsakh as the second Armenian state. According to Arsenyan, Artsakh is a component of Armenia’s state interest, which their political team serves as much as possible, and for which service we suffered heavy losses in 2020.
