Years ago, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that the people of Artsakh did not elect him and he has no right to sign any documents on behalf of Artsakh. However, he already says that he recognizes Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.
The guest of the “Aravot” “Areresum” (“Confrontation”) program, the Artistic Director and Founder of “Sasun” national song-dance ensemble, and the Founder of “Gata Band,” Reverend Deacon Andranik Manukyan expressed his opinion in this regard that Nikol Pashinyan was brought in to implement this project. “And he does what he is told.” Referring to Pashinyan’s statement to start the negotiation process from his point of view, Andranik deacon Manukyan expressed hesitation that our strengths and capabilities were not correctly assessed.
At the rally dedicated to the 100 days in office, the Prime Minister announced: “The people are the ones who solve the Karabakh issue, and I want to say the following. Suppose, as a result of the negotiation process, there will be a settlement option that I believe and consider a good option. In that case, no one will think that I will sign any paper or do any action secretly from you. When I see an option that can really be talked about, I will come and stand here, present all the details to you, and you will decide whether we go to settlement with that option or not. If you decide that we are going, we will go; if you decide that we are not going, we will not go.” And with this promise in mind, many now insist that a referendum should be held before signing anything. “Maybe, the society thinks that Artsakh should be left as part of Azerbaijan. “Let the Armenian people express their opinion,” specifically said Davit Babayan, Advisor to the President of Artsakh – Representative for Special Assignments.
The other guest of the program, journalist Alisa Gevorgyan, the mother of Davit Gevorgyan, who died in the 44-day war, said: “The country’s No. 1 official, whose leading authority should have been the fulfillment of the duties assigned to him by the constitution, which is to be the guarantor of the security of both Armenia and Artsakh, today announces that Artsakh can be part of Azerbaijan (in addition, Nikol Pashinyan announced at the press conference that Tigranashen and the six villages of Tavush are not included in the 29,800 square kilometers of Armenia. We know that according to the constitution, no border changes can take place without a referendum.

In other words, the same prime minister used to say that he would not take any step without agreeing with you; today, he is making such statements alone. And these people, whom he called 3 million prime ministers, are not even offended; the prime ministers are not offended that the authorities are ready to hand over their settlements to Azerbaijan without agreeing with them. Regarding society’s attitude, profound technologies are used here. When problem after problem keeps coming, and another follows one manipulation, people don’t manage to analyze them and express an appropriate attitude – this is the picture. We have seen war, and the society is depressed; they neither expect anything from themselves nor the opposition.”
“True trust among people has been killed,” added Andranik deacon Manukyan. Regarding breaking the promise to go to any settlement only after the people’s decision, he said: “What is not convenient for them, the people do not exist for them either. There is a folk saying: “They get on the horse, they deny God, get off the horse, they remember God.” Here is the problem.”
Alisa Gevorgyan referred to the data of social surveys, according to which 90 percent or more do not imagine Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, and expressed her hope. “At least the instinct of self-preservation will speak, and many will understand that Artsakh is the security border of Armenia. And if our children went to protect Artsakh, they did not only protect Artsakh; they protected us. And the witnesses today are the victims in Sotk, Jermuk, and other areas of RA. At least during this entire period following the war, people must have understood that this border has come closer to their homes. If the instinct of self-preservation will not speak, maybe I will say something fierce. Still, I have to say that the people who do not have that morality and are ready to sacrifice a part of themselves, their homeland, to live in peace, I think that people have no right to have a state, not even to survive.”
