MEDIA RELEASE by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan
Honorable Colleagues,
Honorable Ms. Zupančič,
- We have just finished our meeting with the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Ms. Zupančić. It is a high honour for me to welcome my esteemed colleague and the delegation led by her in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
- During our meeting, which was held in the extended format, we have discussed a range of important issues on the Armenian-Slovenian cooperation.
- Next year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. I trust that our bilateral cooperation has all the potential to deepen even further.
- We have emphasized the importance of the cooperation between the parliaments of Armenia and Slovenia, particularly highlighting the role of the two Friendship Groups acting in our legislative bodies.
- We highly appreciate our collaboration with Slovenia in the scope of Armenia-EU relations, including the effective implementation of the European Union-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.
- The importance of the launch of the Visa Liberalization Dialogue with Armenia has been also highlighted.
- We have touched upon the Armenian-Slovenian economic cooperation, underlining the necessity of the implementation of economic and investment programs.
- I have also spoken about the ongoing illegal blockade of the Lachine Corridor. For nearly 6 months the people of Nagorno-Karabakh are surviving in the conditions of food and humanitarian crisis. Taking into account the incessant bellicose rhetoric and the unlawful actions of the official Baku, we expect targeted reactions from our international partners.
- I extended our special gratitude to Ms. Zupančič for receiving a group of Artsakh children affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, who participated in the project of psychological rehabilitation in October, 2022, in Slovenia. I am very happy to mention that the project of psychological rehabilitation for the Armenian children has been extended for two years.
- Dear colleagues, once again I welcome our Slovenian friends in Armenia. Armenian side will continue its best efforts to further strengthen and expand the cooperation between Armenia and Slovenia.
Thank you.
