On May 29, the delegation led by the Chair of the RA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan being on a working visit in Bucharest had meetings in the Senate of Romania.
The RA NA delegation, where the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Vladimir Vardanyan and the member of the Friendship Group Armenia-Romania Arsen Torosyan were included, met with the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee Titus Corlățean and the Committee members, as well as the Chairman of the Committee for European Affairs of the Senate Vasile Dincu and the Committee members.
During the meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Senate Titus Corlățean the Head of the NA delegation Sargis Khandanyan underscored the special role of Romania in the Armenian people’s life, noting that Romania was one of the countries that gave asylum many Armenians who hardly survived genocide. He also stressed the key role of Romania in the deployment of the EU Civilian Observation Group on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
Titus Corlățean indicated the Armenians’ special role and the great contribution in the political and public life of Romania, underlining the activities of the representative of the national minorities in parliament of Armenian origin Varuzhan Pambukchyan.

At the meeting reference was made to the challenges of the regional security, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the created humanitarian situation, Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations over Peace Treaty and the normalization of relations with Turkey. The EU involvement in those processes was highlighted. The sides also referred to the development perspectives of the Armenia-EU relations.
During the meeting with the Chairman of the Committee for European Affairs of the Romanian Senate Vasile Dincu the opportunities of the expansion of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, the involvement of Armenia in the EU projects, the use of the potential existing in the sphere of economy, culture and education were discussed.
The Chairman of the Committee for European Affairs of the Romanian Senate Vasile Dincu expressed hope that the EU would succeed to find solution in establishing stable peace in the region.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Romania Sergey Minasyan also took part in the meetings.
