“The war of 2020 was in all respects the continuation of the war of 2016,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the second Armenian Forum for Democracy. “Another thing is that if you say that democracy could not prevent that war from happening. Finally, let’s not forget that in April 2016, Serzh Sargsyan, a candidate for the prime minister, announced that war. And this is an essential understanding,” he said.
Referring to the actions of his government, Pashinyan said: “Why was the democratic government unable to avoid the war, because the government faced a volume of the truth of the Karabakh issue, which was indigestible first of all for the government that came from the square and was even more indigestible for the public. This is fundamental because it is indigestible when you see what is under the slogans.”
