The Governor of Tavush Hayk Ghalumyan referred to Nikol Pashinyan’s statement about “enclaves” in a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly. “Those enclaves did not appear after the revolution; those enclaves have always existed,” he said.
“The Prime Minister and the members of our political team have talked about this issue many times. We all know that it is not a secret; everything is transparent. In that regard, nothing is happening in the negotiations at the moment. When it happens, we will inform the public,” he said. To the question whether, in his opinion, there are “enclaves” that should be surrendered, the Governor of Tavush answered: “Just as we have territories under the control of Azerbaijan, we also have the same in Tavush Region and different parts of Armenia.
The Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasized and explained that this issue will be resolved during demarcation and delimitation. I cannot name the villages; I currently have nothing to add. Ghalumyan replied to the observation that if these territories are transferred to Azerbaijan, the residents of the border villages of the Tavush Region will face vital problems. “Just as they have, we have a similar problem; that is, the Azerbaijanis also have the same problems because a large amount of our land is under the control of Azerbaijan. About 950 hectares are under the control of Azerbaijan in the Berkaber area alone. And in general, if it concerns the peace treaty, all other issues can be resolved.”
