During the working visit to Brussels, we had meetings with Ms. Liesbeth Homans, the Speaker of the Flemish Parliament, as well as with the MPs Ms. Katie Kudizer, the Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Commission, Mr. Zhoan Dekmin, Mr. Karl Vanlouwe and other parliamentarians.
During the meeting, introducing security challenges in Armenia and Artsakh, I stressed that as a consequence of the complete blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan, more than 35,000 children are being held hostage, their vital rights have been violated. Children from the border communities of our two republics, among other rights, are deprived of the right to education because of the recurrent shelling by Azerbaijan.
In this context, the more the Armenian side talks about the peace, the more it tastes the bitter fruits of the instability and the war situation created by Azerbaijan in the region, the more aggressive the enemy becomes, continuing its policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide. The Azerbaijani side even targets the ambulance carrying the wounded.
I stressed that so far the decision of the International Court of Justice has remained unfulfilled, in the framework of which Azerbaijan has obliged to take all necessary measures to ensure unimpeded movement of persons, vehicles and cargo along the Lachin Corridor in both directions.
