The RA NA President Alen Simonyan met with the Minister of State (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) John Whittingdale. At the meeting, the perspectives of active cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including culture, were discussed.
The Minister, being a Member of the UK-Armenia parliamentary Friendship Group for many years, mentioned that he is well informed about the situation in our country, about the destruction of the Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno Karabakh by the Azerbaijanis as a consequence of the 44-day war. He considered any encroachment against fundamental human rights unacceptable, also considering the continuous aggression of the Azerbaijani armed forces against the sovereign territory of Armenia.
At the meeting, a conversation was held on the necessity to establish lasting peace in the region, the importance of strengthening democratic values and development.
