The interlocutor of “Aravot” is David Galstyan, deputy of the “Ardarutyun- Justice” faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh.
– Mr. Galstyan, Artsakh’s information headquarters, released a message the other day stating that people are being transported through an illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint. In other words, the authorities of Artsakh have decided that the checkpoint should be used, what does that mean?
– Of course, without the authorities deciding, how could they use that checkpoint? We see that there is regular transportation through that checkpoint. The leaders of Artsakh made a decision and took a step back from the “red lines” they announced.
And today, we have the painful situation that the powers of Artsakh thereby accepted all the preconditions of Azerbaijan, which they had put forward within the framework of the false environmental agenda. In other words, these authorities show that using that checkpoint is not a “red line” for them and is acceptable. However, they used to declare that it was unacceptable.

– Information is circulating that, for example, the participant of the first and second Artsakh wars, who was supposed to receive treatment in Armenia due to health problems, was not allowed by the Azerbaijanis to cross the checkpoint, calling him a “terrorist.” Also, there was a case when the body of an Artsakh citizen who died in Armenia was not allowed to be transported to Stepanakert because he participated in the first Artsakh war. In other words, the Azerbaijanis have information based on men from Artsakh, and they can present false accusations to anyone when crossing that checkpoint.
– I don’t have concrete facts about those cases because we are the opposition, and they are trying to keep us as far away from that information as possible so as not to criticize them on those issues. But, yes, we have also heard such news that they did not allow the deceased’s body to be transported to Artsakh, considering that he was a participant in the first war. Of course, there will be such problems because Azerbaijan has a fundamentalist policy. And our defeated authorities cannot deal with it.
– In other words, there is a risk that Armenian men can be arrested at that checkpoint on the grounds that they participated in the war.
– We do not know what could happen since we have expressed our position that this checkpoint is unacceptable and cannot be used in such a format and conditions. No guarantee excludes such phenomena.
