At June 14 NA regular sitting, the issue of the election of a member of the RA Competition Protection Commission was debated.
The RA NA With Honor and Armenia factions nominated in that position Anahit Sargsyan as an agreed candidate.
The Head of With Honor Faction Hayk Mamijanyan presented the candidate’s biographical data and work experience. Accordingly, Anahit Sargsyan graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University (YSU). She is an advocate. In 2017-2019 she was a member of the RA Competition Protection Commission. She has a good command of three languages. She is an author of a number of scientific works and articles.

The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan, noting that With Honor Faction votes against all drafts of the Government, inquired what is their expectation as the election of the candidate depends on the members of the Civil Contract Faction.
Hayk Mamijanyan answered that the Republic of Armenia will win if the candidate is elected member of the RA Competition Protection Commission.
The NA Vice President Ruben Rubinyan asked if the rapporteur is not interested in their candidate’s election.
The Head of the Faction repeated that the country would benefit from such professional specialist’s activity.
The deputy Vahagn Aleksanyan inquired how many monopolies were in Armenia in 2017.
In response to that it was noted that from 2018 until today the share of the petrol importers has not been changed.
The candidate of a member of the RA Competition Protection Commission Anahit Sargsyan thanked the opposition factions for nominating her candidacy and presented her visions for carrying out her activity in the Commission. It was noted that the competition is the driving force of the economy. The candidate stressed the necessity of free and conscientious competition, highlighted the increase of the level of the public awareness. She is for the elimination of natural monopolies, which, according to her, will promote the activeness of economy.
Anahit Sargsyan answered the MPs’ many questions, which mainly referred to economic competition, monopolies, the speculation of dominant position, the digitalization of the Committee’s activity.
The NA Vice President Ruben Rubinyan inquired if the candidate is interested in the voting of the Civil Contract Faction.
In response to that, Anahit Sargsyan noted: “My election and my work, I think will be useful for the Commission.”
The MPs Vahagn Aleksanyan and Arpine Davoyan voiced the inappropriate notes of the candidate on the social networks a few years ago about the people and the ruling political force.
The NA President Alen Simonyan inquired the candidate about the meaning of her coming to the parliament, when she took inappropriate notes addressing our people.
In the candidate’s opinion, she will work well in the Commission.
The MPs who took part in the exchange of ideas mainly touched upon the candidate’s purposeful inappropriate expressions and the notes made on the social networks.
