On June 14, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan received the delegation headed by Robert Nicholson, president of the American “Philos Project” organization. Sam Brownback, former US ambassador for religious freedom and former governor of the state of Kansas, had also joined the delegation.
Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan briefed the attendees on the security situation in the region and the efforts of Armenia towards establishing peace. The sides also touched upon the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the necessity of addressing the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The imperative of unblocking the Lachin corridor, as well as the need for Azerbaijan to refrain from its aggressive rhetoric and the threat of use of force, was emphasized.
