Jano Hakobyan, a resident of Yeraskh, works as an electric welder at the metallurgical plant under construction. “We were waiting for the tractor to take the armature up and do the work. Some of the guys were already working upstairs when the shooting started. We ran away, we hid behind the wall, you probably saw there, under the wall, and then we came out through the fence,” our interlocutor tells about the shots that rang out in the factory area. To remind you, in recent days, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are opening fire in the direction of Yeraskh.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the factory under construction in that area was targeted. As a result of the shooting, two Indian citizens were injured. And that day, the ambassadors accredited to RA visited Yeraskh, particularly the factory area under construction targeted by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
Jano Hakobyan says they did not wait for the shots; they were busy with their daily affairs, and an unexpected “thump” was heard and continued. In total, the shooting lasted about half an hour, with interruptions. After the retaliatory firing by the Armenian side, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces calmed down. It’s the second day. On the first day of it, they also shot. “We are waiting for the issue to be resolved. It is a bit of a shame to die here. It’s better to go there, to the guys (points to the border: the Armenian strongholds-N.G.), whatever happens there, there’s no shame, but it’s really a shame here,” he says.
He doesn’t want to talk about the peace agreement or ongoing political processes; he said only one thing. “We have to push them down from that mountain; there is no other option; otherwise, this will continue. The same is in Sotk; there is an observer and a journalist; try to put the American embassy there; if they want to shoot, they will shoot. They ignore even the Hague Court…”
