On June 22, the Dutch Member of the European Parliament Bert-Jan Ruissen accompanied by the Member of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Arsen Torosyan visited the Syunik Marz (Region) of the Republic of Armenia. The RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Netherlands Tigran Balayan accompanied the MPs to the south of Armenia.
In Goris the Deputy Governor of the Syunik Marz Hayk Harutyunyan received the guests and presented the security situation in the Marz, Bert-Jan Ruissen noted that the Armenian people enjoy the support of the European Parliament, and he is in Armenia to show their support to Armenia and, particularly, the residents of Syunik, realizing in how hard situation they are.
The sides highlighted the deployment of the Observation Mission of the European Union in the Syunik Marz.

Afterwards, the Armenian and the Dutch MPs met with the young doctors of Artsakh, who cannot return to Artsakh after the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor and carry out their mission, provide medical services to the people of Artsakh. They presented the humanitarian problems created because of the blockade.
The Member of the European Parliament mentioned that the way out of the current situation is the targeted pressure on Azerbaijan and imposing concrete sanctions. It was recorded that there is need for the urgent solution of the problems to prevent the impending humanitarian disaster.
The legislators were also at the starting point of the Lachin Corridor, discussed the issue of introducing various defense mechanisms for reaching lasting peace.
