During the siege, we are all soldiers, and together, in the same trench, we have to defend ourselves from the enemy, and in that sense, it does not matter whether you are a state-public figure or an ordinary citizen, Ruben Vardanyan, the former Minister of State of the Republic of Artsakh, said live on Radio “Aurora.”
According to him, respect and faith in the leader is not determined by the position during the war. In 1988, during the Karabakh movement, many people came to the front line because, being patriotic and responsible, they could lead people.
“Defeat, apathy, blockade, there are four ways to get out of all of this, that is, a crisis, either you get angry and hit back, or you run away from difficulties, or you freeze in your place, hoping that you will not be noticed, or you become detached. Unfortunately, the majority in Artsakh and Armenia are detached, thinking that this is not happening to them and is not the reality.
Unfortunately, according to our polls, about 65 percent of people in Armenia are in that situation because of disappointment in both the past and the future. We must be ready that the freedom of the Motherland, the right to live in the Motherland, does not end with one struggle; we must be prepared for the daily struggle because no one in the world can be a guarantor,” said Ruben Vardanyan.

To the moderator’s question, what is the way out, Vardanyan said, “When you wake up every day, you should think that this step is the most important to get out of the blockade, war, crisis, let’s say by learning well to contribute to the improvement of the situation in Artsakh. If thinking like this, even 2-3 percent of the population of Armenia is enough to change the situation.
For example, how many hours of your air time do you dedicate to Artsakh? That is an essential question. I advise you to finish all your programs with the slogan “Artsakh must be independent, unite and fight”; this is also a form of struggle. We are apprehensive about the fate of Artsakh, but how much time do we devote to Artsakh in a day? If we have the idea of Artsakh within us and are ready to fight, we will undoubtfully get results,” emphasized Ruben Vardanyan.
