On July 11, 2023, the Tatoyan Foundation Center for Law and Justice together with the U.S. law firm, Kerkonian Dajani LLP, filed a class action suit against Mohammad Reza Vaziri, CEO of Anglo Asian Mining PLC, in Washington DC in relation to Azerbaijan’s ongoing blockade of Artsakh.
The federal complaint alleges that Defendant Vaziri aided and abetted violations of the Torture Victim Protection Act and aided and abetted the false imprisonment of the Artsakh Armenians in an effort to secure access and exploit precious metal mine deposits in Artsakh. The case, entitled Lalabekyan v. Vaziri, seeks certification of a plaintiff class of some 120,000 persons who continue to suffer in physical confinement and blockade by Azerbaijan, now for more than 7 months.
