Statement of the Women’s Support Center regarding the unfolding humanitarian disaster in Artsakh

The announcement is open for joining.

Artsakh is on the edge of a humanitarian catastrophe. In Artsakh, which has been under blockade for 224 days, new insoluble and tragic problems are arising. In the created situation, the condition of pregnant women, nursing mothers, young children, and vulnerable groups in need of special care is particularly difficult. In Artsakh, premature pregnancy loss is on the rise due to malnutrition, and most pregnant women are anemic due to a lack of medication.

Health services are not fully functioning due to both lack of medicines and lack of fuel. In Artsakh, the biggest problem is the acquisition of hygiene items, which directly affects the health, in particular, of women.

The problem of water supply can also be added to the constant interruptions in the supply of electricity and gas.

The “Women’s Support Center” NGO is sounding the alarm in connection with gross violations of international humanitarian law and human rights in Artsakh, which are based on national hatred and pursue the goal of ethnic cleansing.

In this regard, we call on our partner local and international organizations to unite their efforts in raising the voice of protest against the inhuman situation that has developed in Artsakh.
The authorities of Armenia and Artsakh should officially contact the UN World Food Programme and ask for support.

We can’t delay any longer.
