Taguhi Tovmasyan, deputy of the “With Honor” faction of the National Assembly, summarized the results of the signature collection “No to Artsakh ethnic cleansing” that started on May 3. “I carried out an interesting action, trying to understand how perceptible and acceptable the theses that Nikol Pashinyan puts forward, that is, that he recognizes Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, are acceptable to the Armenian society.
And I must record that with the signature collection that started on May 3 and continued until June 20, we had the opportunity to do a small test that the Armenian people did not authorize Nikol Pashinyan to leave Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. I will now prove it with numbers because my action was short-term. And if I continue collecting signatures, I am sure I will collect millions of signatures,” she said.
Taguhi Tovmasyan informed that 536,898 signatures were collected during the period mentioned above. It includes 60 thousand signatures from Artsakh. “In other words, we crossed the threshold of half a million a long time ago, and this means that so many people have ratified their clear position with their signatures, that is, Artsakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan, and Nikol Pashinyan’s theses are rejected in this regard.
For comparison, the Civil Contract Party has 3,000 members. In other words, a party with 3,000 supporters and 3,000 members cannot decide the fate of a 3,000-year-old nation and 13 million Armenians. You understand this was not just a signature collection, which we should record and move on. That was a concrete action and a litmus test that Nikol Pashinyan does not have legitimacy on the issue of Artsakh and does not have the legitimacy to defend the theses that he is advancing,” she added.

Tovmasyan said that the Civil Contract does not have the authority to hand over Artsakh; there is no such provision in the party’s pre-election program, that is, Nikol Pashinyan deceived the voters. “In the program, they wrote: “Secession for the sake of salvation,” but already in the government, they recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. It means that they directly deceived their voters. Besides, Nikol Pashinyan has no legitimacy to recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.
During my visit to Brussels, I realized that our international partners need to quote and demonstrate the factual circumstances. That’s why I came and initiated this signature collection,” he emphasized. To the question of whether she is not afraid that the government will oppose this signature collection, saying that 680 thousand of citizens voted for them, Taguhi Tovmasyan answered: “The number of 680,000 has decreased a long time ago, and this collection of signatures also proves that. In other words, this was a unique referendum and short political action; I can repeat and collect triple and quadruple signatures.”
