BURBANK, CA – The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) partnered with Southern California Armenian Democrats (SCAD) and the National Organization of Republican Armenians (NORA) to host a town hall meeting aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration between the Armenian community and law enforcement. The event took place at the Armenian Center in Burbank, with a significant turnout of community members in attendance.

The July 19th town hall meeting provided an invaluable opportunity for community members to engage in an open and constructive dialogue with Sheriff Robert Luna, representing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The discussions centered around key topics such as community safety, recruitment efforts, and strengthening the partnership between law enforcement and the Armenian community.

During the event, Sheriff Luna addressed the concerns raised by the community regarding targeted hate crimes against Armenians in Los Angeles. He assured the attendees that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department takes these incidents seriously and is committed to thoroughly investigating, preventing, and prosecuting such crimes. Sheriff Luna emphasized the importance of justice and ensuring the safety of all community members.

One of the significant announcements made by Sheriff Luna was his commitment to increasing the representation of Armenians within the Sheriff’s Department. Recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusivity, Sheriff Luna shared plans to actively recruit and hire more Armenian individuals to join the force. We are committed to working together with law enforcement to address concerns and build a safer future,” stated Dimejian.

Jack Kayajian, Southern California Armenian Democrats (SCAD) Event Committee Chair, remarked, “The town hall meeting provided a vital platform for our community to voice concerns and establish a stronger relationship with law enforcement.
