Chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a regular Cabinet meeting took place today.
The Government adopted a decision to redistribute financial resources aimed at providing logistical support for the patrol service of the Police of the Ministry of Inernal Affairs (MIA) and the water patrol service unit being formed within it, as well as for meeting the needs of the MIA Police. As the Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan noted, the purpose of creating a water patrol unit is to increase the efficiency of combating offenses in Lake Sevan and its basin, which in its nature will provide a new blueprint for the realization of the vision of having a safe and secure Lake Sevan.
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of the adopted decision and emphasized that it is directed at the implementation of the next stage of the water patrol service. “We need to strengthen the services in Lake Sevan, the water police will act according to the following logic. we will introduce a combined service with the cooperation of the police, rescue service and Sevan National Park. We have had two cases of drowning on public beaches this year, and an official investigation has been assigned by the Minister of Internal Affairs. The logic is that at least at public beaches we should be able to avoid cases of drowning.”
Nikol Pashinyan noted that this decision of the government also ensures the implementation of the introduction of patrol police throughout the territory of the republic. “We are planning to introduce patrol service in the last four regions, where there is no patrol police, I am talking about Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Ararat and Armavir Provinces, in October. Everything seems to be going according to the plan, but we will not consider the work finished.
