A group of citizens protested in front of the government building on August 17, calling on the government to ensure the safety of the people of Artsakh. Citizens demanded that the government take immediate steps to lift the blockade of Artsakh, stop unilateral concessions in the negotiations on the solution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, and remind them with what mandate they were re-elected, that is, with the promise to advance the process of recognition of Artsakh’s independence.
Lilit Kocharyan, one of the demonstration participants, told journalists: “We want to remind them that the Republic of Armenia itself is obliged to ensure the safety of the people of Artsakh and not to wash its hands of the issue. The residents of Artsakh still have passports of RA citizens, and the government of the Republic of Armenia is obliged to ensure the safety of these people’s lives, which has not happened for a long time.

The demonstration participants brought pots with them; Lilit Kocharyan said they wanted to remind the government how this government came to power. “We want to remind them that the people brought them to power and what was the purpose of that revolution, how far they have gone from the goals of the revolution, how much they have broken their promises. Also, let me remind you that during the 2021 election campaign, Nikol Pashinyan and the CC team saw the solution to the Artsakh problem with the “secession for the sake of salvation” thesis. And with that promise, they were re-elected, but now they are doing the opposite.
Recognizing Artsakh as a part of Azerbaijan contradicts the pre-election promises; he does not have the mandate to do so. We want to remind the authorities that no one re-elected them for that purpose,” Kocharyan said.
Stella Avagyan, one of the participants of the demonstration, also mentioned that the key to opening the Berdzor corridor is in the Armenian government building; Nikol Pashinyan should resign.
“We have to start changing, no one will do anything for us, and they don’t have to. If we are indifferent to Artsakh Armenians, we don’t live together; I don’t see anything crueler than that. In my opinion, the key to opening the Berdzor corridor is in the government building. This man must go, along with his team. He must go before signing the final capitulation, which will be the capitulation not only of Artsakh but also of Armenia. He is a malignant tumor for our country; he has already given metastases, and society is sick. We need to get rid of that malignant tumor in minutes, give the body an “update,” and understand what we need to do in the future,” she said.
