In the case of Kapan airport, do they also “don’t have a mandate”?

August 19,2023 10:30

A few days ago, Prime Minister Pashinyan went to Syunik by plane and landed at Kapan airport, after which it was announced that Yerevan-Kapan regular flights will be carried out next week. A day after, an “unknown person” (according to the National Security Service of Armenia) shot at the Kapan airport building. It is clear that it is not really about some madman who, for some reason, decided to open fire on a strategic object. The Azerbaijani military fired from its military base. It is the duty of a normal state to suppress that firing point.

Here, our authorities cannot “make excuses” as if they “don’t have a mandate” to do such a thing. (Although, in my opinion, the claim of “not having a mandate” in the case of Artsakh is absurd and illegal). The Kapan airport is located in the territory of the Republic of Armenia and is part of the 29.8 thousand square kilometers mentioned by Pashinyan many times. The enemy is shooting there because they don’t want regular flights to Syunik. The enemy is shooting toward Yeraskh because he does not wish for a metallurgical plant to be built there. There are two options: refuse to construct the combine and operate the airport or silence the enemy.

“What, you want a war to start?” – This is how the authorities and their supporters usually retort. In response, I have to repeat that leaving any action of the enemy unanswered is a direct path to war. Due to the endless “squeezed” state, as is known, you get both war and dishonor. Or is our peace-loving government also ready to let “unknown persons” shoot at buildings in Yerevan?

I think Azerbaijan is preparing for new large-scale military operations. In conditions where none of the international players will stop Azerbaijan (talks are not an issue), the only way out is armed resistance.
