“This is an opportunity for us, at least at the level of Yerevan, to oppose this process that is destroying the country” – this is how Sarhat Petrosyan, Architect – Urban Planner, assessed the election of the Yerevan Council of Elders during the “Aravot” program “Areresum” (“Confrontation”).
He added, ” “If we could see in the government field that at least we have normal solutions to the problems of city management and not the direct waste of the state budget, this number of buses that are now filled before the elections, or asphalting and improvement, But since the management of Yerevan has failed and the administration of the country has failed, it is clear that every election participant should use this opportunity to solve these two problems.”
Another program guest, Isabella Sargsyan, a representative of the Yerevan Heritage Protection Committee, also recalled the history of the controversy that led to the dismissal of Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan. “If that political force continues to hold office, it means that the decisions will not be made by the Mayor of Yerevan (whoever he is) or the Council of Elders (it is a systemic issue, this is the management system introduced in Armenia) decision on all issues related to Yerevan will be decided by the government.”
She expressed concern that if this force continues to hold office, then the intentions related to Yerevan that we hear from the government about the demolition of Kond, the takeover of the post office building on Republic Square, and the transformation into an open joint-stock company will become a reality.

Isabella Sargsyan answered whether she doubts that the Tamanyan heritage may be endangered. “I don’t doubt it.
