Nikol Pashinyan made a “serious revelation” at last week’s government meeting. “We have received reliable information that plans are being developed to open the Lachin Corridor one-way to allow exit from Nagorno-Karabakh, but not to allow entry,” said the Prime Minister.
When a journalist talks about “reliable information” or “up in the air” news, he means that he is unable or unwilling to identify the source of his information. The head of state, however, is guided by public or secret reports presented to him. But is it necessary to have a secret agency network to understand Azerbaijan’s intentions? Aliyev has repeatedly stated that Artsakh citizens who do not want to live under the rule of Azerbaijan can leave Artsakh, and those who wish to stay must accept Azerbaijani citizenship and obey the laws of that country.
So, “reliable sources” or spies are unnecessary to discover the enemy’s intentions. By allowing exit and not allowing entry, Azerbaijan seeks to eliminate the Armenian ethnic group from Artsakh because it is clear that the people of Artsakh will not be able to live under Azerbaijani rule, even if they want to. And in this matter, too, you don’t need intelligence to understand Baku’s plans. Everything is exceptionally transparent; the messages are clear and unambiguous. With the abduction of Vagif Khachatryan and then three young people from Artsakh, the government of Azerbaijan makes it clear to us how it will deal with the Armenians of Artsakh when they fall into their hands. I don’t think there are naive people in the world or Armenia who believe that Armenians will live a peaceful and prosperous life in Artsakh. There are no people who don’t understand, but there are those who “present themselves as crazy.”
In this context, I think it is clear what “humanitarian aid to Azerbaijan through Aghdam” means. Azerbaijani officials and security forces will also come with the bakery, and I don’t even want to describe what will follow. Of course, the people of Artsakh must decide how to act; it is not ethical to give advice or even make suggestions from here, for the time being safe Yerevan.
