On August 30, the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, accompanied the convoy of trucks loaded with humanitarian assistance sent by the capital of France and several regions of the country to Kornidzor.
Azerbaijan did not allow 10 French vehicles with humanitarian cargo to enter Nagorno-Karabakh. Artsakh Foreign Minister Sergey Ghazaryan, Syunik Region Governor Robert Ghukasyan, and Goris Community Mayor Arush Arushanyan welcomed the French delegation and escorted them to Kornidzor.
Sergey Ghazaryan and Robert Ghukasyan presented the situation to the French delegation. At the press conference, Anne Hidalgo described what is happening in Artsakh as genocide.

Bertrand Xavier, the President of the O-de French Region, also mentioned that many people do not know what is happening in Artsakh. “Many people do not know that from 2023, Azerbaijan does not allow Artsakh Armenians to live. Many people do not know that children in Artsakh cannot eat normally, that newborn babies do not have enough food, and many people do not know that access to gas, water, and electricity for people is also very limited. Those people are deprived of all that because of Azerbaijan, which despises international law,” said Bertrand Xavier.
For this reason, representatives of different regions of France have joined and organized this humanitarian support so that people can live in dignity until international law is fully implemented. “And we were not allowed to do that. And this is what we want to announce and condemn,” said Xavier.
The president of the O-de French region called on the international community to organize such initiatives for Artsakh. “Azerbaijan wants to turn Nagorno-Karabakh into a prison and drive away its inhabitants. We don’t want Nagorno-Karabakh to become a cage, but we want its residents to live freely,” said Bertrand Xavier. According to the latter, we should not wait for hundreds of victims in Artsakh for the international community to wake up.
Although there are politicians with different political views in the delegation from France, we all have the same demand from the French President to submit a resolution to the UN Security Council to benefit the people of Artsakh. The Chairman of the “Republican” faction, the majority in the French Senate, and the Head of the study group on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, Bruno Retailleau, announced that Artsakh is becoming a concentration camp in the open air.
“Today’s attempt of ethnic cleansing and genocide is directed against 120 thousand people, 30 thousand of whom are children. We demand the French President, taking advantage of France’s position, that is, the fact that France is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to pass a resolution that will finally allow the opening of the Lachine Corridor and put it under international protection so that humanitarian traffic also be opened,” said the French Senator.
