News.am. We need all Armenians to realize that the situation in Artsakh is a matter of national dignity, says the message of the former State Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh.
“Today, 32 years after the declaration of its independence, Artsakh faces an existential threat, and Artsakh Armenians endure inhuman hardships in order to have a decent life on their homeland.
Armenia faces the same existential threat, since the claims that surrendering Artsakh will bring peace to Armenia are false. Yesterday’s provocation by Azerbaijan once again proves that Azerbaijan will not be satisfied with the capture of Artsakh – their ambitions extend much further.

What the Armenian people are currently going through in Artsakh, but also in Armenia, can definitely be called one of the hardest pages in our history. At this historical milestone, the most important thing for us is to adequately overcome this stage, and we have such experience.
32 years ago, it was also not easy to make a decision, but it was made as this was the only way to keep Artsakh Armenian, to prevent further genocidal actions against the Armenians of Artsakh and live a decent life.
Today we face the same challenge. For me, as someone who has been involved in various projects in Artsakh for over 20 years and who made the decision to move to Artsakh exactly a year ago, it is quite clear that the Armenians of Artsakh have not changed their decision. For them, no hunger, no suffering, not even death, is as dreadful as the loss of their homeland, freedom and dignity.
What do Artsakh and Artsakh Armenians need today?
We need Armenia, all the Armenians to support our struggle and resistance.
We need all Armenians to realize that the situation in Artsakh is a matter of national dignity; it is also a question of Armenia’s security and the preservation of the Armenian world.
We need the Armenian government to avoid making dangerous statements about the fate of Artsakh behind the backs of the Artsakh Armenians. Not only do they not help to alleviate the situation, but they also create problems for the Republic of Armenia itself.
We need to preserve the principles and values that form the basis of our two states. No matter how difficult times may be, these principles are not subject to change, since it is the ability to preserve these principles that is an indicator of the formation and strengthening of states.
Together we must ensure that Azerbaijan is first of all forced to open the Berdzor [Lachin] Corridor. In Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora, we must be able to unite and support each other.
We must ensure that Azerbaijan feels our advantage as a networked nation and experiences the impact of this. The leadership of a country that has condemned 120,000 people, including 30,000 children, to hunger, should be regarded as pariah in the civilized world and earn universal contempt.
And we will show the whole world that no Azerbaijani pressure, no hunger can force an Armenian living in Artsakh to give up the right to live freely, independently and with dignity on their own soil.
Congratulations on the 32nd anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh!” said the message.
