Taking into consideration the lack of sport facilities in the republic, we propose to remove from the list of privatization and hand over to the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport the sport facility located at Tsitsernakaberd highway 5, which has served Armenian sport for many years, for educational gatherings and trainings: This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Karen Giloyan at the NA sitting during the report of the draft law on Amending the Law on the Privatization of State Property for 2017-2020 .

The Deputy Minister stated that the sport facility has a dormitory building for about 60 people, 2 gymnasiums with an area of 1600 square meters, one of which is adapted for artistic gymnastics and acrobatics, and the other for combat sports.

“It is an extremely important building for us. There is no other sport complex with such halls in the RA,” Karen Giloyan said and added that according to the regulations, a health rehabilitation center for athletes will also be established.

The deputy Zaruhi Batoyan inquired from the Deputy Minister when the sport facility appeared on the privatization list and whether there are already investment plans, in response to which Karen Giloyan said that during the meeting of the Government Committee, he was against selling the sport facility, it was decided to make the center serve Armenian sport. The Deputy Minister also stated with joy that Armenian sport have aroused the interest of private investors, they have already applied to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport with several plans to build the center.

The deputy Sisak Gabrielyan noted in his turn that several sport facilities were given to sport NGOs, some of which are alienated and elite buildings or shopping centers are built on the spot. The MP inquired whether the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport is taking certain steps in this regard.

“We have certain problems with the NGOs, which we need to understand and solve. Some state or community owned sport schools were once illegally privatized and currently serve a different purpose. We are constantly monitoring that such a process does not happen again,” the Deputy Minister said.

The member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Narek Babayan said that the sport facility appeared on the privatization list before 2017 and that there are legal cases in this regard. The MP noted that the aim is justified, for which the relevant Committee endorsed the draft.
