Ruben Vardanyan, the Coordinator of the Public Movement “Front of Security and Development of Artsakh” and former Minister of State of the Republic of Artsakh, reflected on the Armenian-American military exercises and Anna Hakobyan’s departure to Kyiv on Facebook Live. One of the users asked Vardanyan how Moscow would accept the Armenian-American military exercises when the Armenian side rejected joint military exercises with the CSTO, and how it could affect Artsakh, and how Moscow would receive the departure of Pashinyan’s wife, Anna Hakobyan, to Kyiv.
In response, Ruben Vardanyan said: We can endlessly discuss the various steps of the ruling power and try to find out who is guilty, etc. “The important thing is that what is being done, is there a strategy, is there a consistent approach, and who is doing all that, is he doing it with understanding or is he just doing it because he wants to look good here and look good there? “.
One of the users asked: You have friends worldwide, and in Azerbaijan, have you tried to use your connections for the sake of Artsakh? In response to this question, Vardanyan said he never had any friends in Azerbaijan. “I have friends who have friends in Azerbaijan or have done some actions with each other. I did not receive a request from the authorities to do something, and I did not try to establish contacts or communicate with the Azerbaijanis in a situation where we have such a sharp challenge.”
When asked whether he would agree to assume the position of Minister of State of Artsakh again if there is an offer, Vardanyan answered: “I have always said that I came here as an ordinary soldier, and I did not think about being a statesman. In this situation, it is not about position but about responsibility. When the authorities decide on strategic matters and decide that my support is important in those strategic matters, I have said that I will do the work without discussion.”
