The Head of the RA NA Armenia Faction Seyran Ohanyan, the Faction members Artsvik Minasyan, Armen Gevorgyan, Elinar Vardanyan and Armenuhi Kyureghyan met with the representatives of the Council of Europe European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), the OSCE/ODIHR and the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Martina Schmidt on September 13.
Welcoming the members of the delegation, Seyran Ohanyan expressed his gratitude for the meeting and for getting to know the viewpoints of the Faction regarding the important issue, the amendments planned in the RA Electoral Code.
The MPs presented their concerns and remarks to the European partners regarding the amendments designed in the Code, noting that they received the initiative the previous day, besides, it was not discussed with the public and the political field. The MPs of the opposition Faction touched upon the realities and violations recorded in the national and local self-government election processes, as well as after the local self-government elections, the legislative regulations that hinder democratic processes, and the problematic provisions proposed in the code.
After meeting with the representatives of the RA political field and other structures, the delegation will prepare a joint opinion-report. It will be ready at the beginning of October.
