Why is it essential that the “Civil Contract” not be reproduced?

September 15,2023 10:30

I have already had to write several times that I do not see any significant difference between the current Civil Contract and its beloved “former.” The last election campaign confirmed this: the same administrative resource, the same “headquarters tasovshiks-shufflers” sponsored by the same oligarchs.  Of course, election frauds are also not excluded, especially considering that the Chairman of the Central Election Commission is a former Pashinyan subordinate and a former Civil Contract Deputy.

Added to that are the latest technologies, the “fake factory,” whose representatives propagandize per the Civil Contract’s intellectual and cultural level. In short, I’m afraid I have to disagree that a new, bright Armenia was built in these five years, where “smiles appeared on people’s faces.”

Naturally, the political meaning of these elections is fundamentally important to me. The reproduction of the Civil Contract will allow the ruling authorities to claim that their policy is supported by the residents of the capital, a policy the continuation of which will lead to the depopulation of Artsakh in the coming months and the actual liquidation of Armenian statehood in the coming years.

In my impressions, the CC cannot have a majority in Yerevan, even using all the tools of the “former”. The problem is that people should come to the elections and not be guided by the philistine slogan “nothing will change anyway”. All autocracies benefit from the passivity of citizens.

In the end, a little advice for those voters with opposition views who want to go to the polling station and spoil the ballot. It makes no sense; they won’t solve any problems with it. Such behavior makes sense when, say, there are presidential elections, and the government’s representative strives to get “50+” percent, so there is no second round.

In proportional elections like the Yerevan Council of Elders, the invalid ballot will not play any role; the ratio of votes is necessary. So, those who want to avoid the Civil Contract being reproduced should go and choose the party they like, naturally, not to CC.
