Memorandum of Cooperation between the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and Berlin Economics Independent Consulting Organization Signed

The Independent Consulting Organization Berlin Economics and the RA Government have been cooperating for a long time. On the previous day during our visit to Germany, we, parliamentarians, also expressed wish that the Berlin Economics will cooperate with the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, will also make analyses for us. I should mention with joy that the Organization accepted our proposal, as a result of which we are signing a Memorandum of Cooperation today.

The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan said this on September 14, receiving in the Parliament of our country the Managing Director at the Independent Consulting Organization Berlin Economics Riccardo Giucci, the Representative for Armenia of the Organization Dmitry Cherviakov, the Executive Director of the German Economic Association Meri Navasardyan, and the Deputy Chief of Mission of Germany to our country Eric Tintrup.

“We welcome the continuously strengthening democracy and ongoing reforms in the Republic of Armenia and support economic cooperation. The Memorandum of Cooperation is very important for us,” said the Deputy Chief of Mission of Germany to our country Erik Tintrup and expressed hope that the researches made by the Independent Consulting Organization Berlin Economics will have positive impact on the work of the RA Parliament.

In this context, the Executive Director Riccardo Giucci said that the organization is not of political but consultative character.

After the memorandum signing ceremony between the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and the Independent Consulting Organization Berlin Economics, Riccardo Giucci presented a research titled ‘Economic Consequences on Opening the Armenia-Turkey Border.” The next research was about the economic impact of the citizens the Russian Federation on the Republic of Armenia. The key speaker Dmitry Cherviakov said that since February 2022, 55,000 citizens of the Russian Federation had come to our country, which had a positive impact on the economy of the Republic of Armenia and the GDP.

At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Chair of the Committee Babken Tunyan thanked the guests for their cooperation and for making researches on the themes of great importance to our country. The Deputy Chair of the Committee noted that the collaboration with the experienced specialists of the Organization Berlin Economics is an invaluable support for the deputies of the RA NA economic bloc from the viewpoint of improving the quality of the adopting regulations. He also hoped that the cooperation would be of continuous character and further deepen Armenian-German relations.
