The Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Greece

On September 20, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with George Gerapetritis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece.

Touching upon the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 19, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that Azerbaijan is pursuing a goal to subject the population of Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing through the use of force and deprive the population of Nagorno-Karabakh of the right to live freely and in dignity in their own homeland.

The Minister added that the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia, since December 2022 and the total blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh pursue the same goal.

It was emphasized that, in the light of current situation statements are not enough and clear actions by international partners are needed to restrain Azerbaijan, prevent mass atrocity crime in Nagorno-Karabakh and destabilization in the entire South Caucasus.

Issues of Armenia-EU cooperation were discussed.
