“He puts the fate of 120,000 people on the table so that he is not told that he depopulated Artsakh.” “Confrontation” (“Areresum”)

September 25,2023 09:44

“We believe that the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh should live in dignified and safe conditions in their homes, in their homeland. Today, at this moment, we assess that there is no direct threat to the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated, and his assertion was seconded by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeihun Bayramov at the UN Security Council. Analyst Armen Baghdasaryan, a guest on “Aravot” “Confrontation” ( “Areresum”) program, said Nikol Pashinyan’s assessment is wrong. “No, Artsakh Armenians will not be able to live under the rule of Azerbaijan.

Nikol Pashinyan behaves as usual. Now he seems to be putting the fate of those 120,000 people on the table again, saying: let them stay there, as long as they don’t tell me that I depopulated Artsakh, as he said after the war, that they would call me a traitor. Now he says, “I don’t do it so that you don’t tell me later that you depopulated.” More precisely, the RA Prime Minister said: “Armenia does not conduct a depopulation policy of Nagorno -Karabakh, Azerbaijan conducts that policy. And one cannot suddenly be emotionally in a position where Azerbaijan will implement the policy of ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh by the hands of Armenia.”

Armen Baghdasaryan added: “It doesn’t matter what Nikol Pashinyan says. What he does is related. And what he is doing: Wasn’t this the result of his 5-year policy? It is not the case that Azerbaijan decided one day, attacked the next day, entered on the third day, and started ethnic cleansing. It is not so”.

In his speech at the UN Security Council, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan proposed a solution. “Immediately deploy an inter-agency UN mission in Nagorno-Karabakh to monitor and assess the human rights, humanitarian and security situation.”

In this regard, Armen Baghdasaryan said that the Minister knew very well that this would not happen. “The biggest mistake in politics is to put such a problem in front of you; the probability of its solution is zero; there is none.”

During the conversation, reference was made to Dmitry Medvedev’s telegram message, the addressee of which was very obvious: “Then he lost the war, but strangely enough, he stayed in office. Then, he decided to blame Russia for his incompetent defeat. Then, he ceded a part of the territory of his country. Then he decided to flirt with NATO, and his wife boldly went to our enemies with cookies. Guess what fate awaits him…”

Agreeing that no official of Russia has ever expressed himself in such a style about the leaders of Armenia, Armen Baghdasaryan said: “Even now, he has no right to speak, even more so, the official of the country, which has been unable to capture two villages for a year and a half with its huge army, as if it is the second in the world.” So, it would be suitable for him to keep his voice down and be calm. No matter how true what he said, it does not apply to Nikol Pashinyan; it is an insult to Armenia. He does not have that right. Although I say again, whatever he says, by and large, he is right.

But Armenia can also tell many such truths. And Russia is not in a position to be able to speak with such a tone and irony towards someone. It is a different matter that these clumsy authorities of Armenia have lowered the country’s rating to the level that they are allowed to talk to them like that. And the sin of tolerating it is already ours. It is our fault that we let such a government that every official reserves the right to insult an entire state.”

We will shortly present excerpts from the views expressed by the other program guest, journalist Karpis Pashoyan.

The entire conversation with Armen Baghdasaryan and Karpis Pashoyan is in the video.
