Statement from the UWC Dilijan Board of Governors

The UWC Dilijan Board of Governors protests the illegal arrest and detention of our founder and patron, Ruben Vardanyan, by the Azerbaijani authorities today while attempting to leave Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) together with thousands of Armenians fleeing the area.

We call for his immediate release and are asking everyone in our community to use your networks to press Azerbaijan to act in accordance with international laws.

Our thoughts are with Ruben’s wife Veronika Zonabend, the chair of the Board, and their family at this trying time.
