On September 29, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan met with the Member of the House of Commons of Parliament of Great Britain, the Former Minister for Children and Families Edward Timpson and the Founder and Executive Director of the NGO Care for Children Robert Glover.
Welcoming the guests in the national Assembly, Sargis Khandanyan underlined that during recent years the cooperation with the parliamentarians of Great Britain had been active.
The Committee Chair presented the humanitarian situation created because of the military attack of Azerbaijan and mass forcibly displacement of the Nagorno Karabakh (NK) people. According to Sargis Khandanyan, because of the ethnic cleansing policy of Azerbaijan already about 90.000 persons have been displaced from Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia. Sargis Khandanyan touched upon the work being done by the RA Government in supporting the displaced persons.
The sides discussed issues on ensuring the social needs of the forcibly displaced citizens of Nagorno Karabakh, particularly the elders and children.
