Anahit Avanesyan, the Minister of Health of Armenia in Syunik Marz, got acquainted with the work of the coordination center located in the building of the State Theater in Goris, where our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh are registered. The doctors of the Goris Medical Center also work here, and if necessary, they provide first aid to the displaced and provide initial consultation. “Being under siege for ten months, mostly malnourished, without medicines for chronic diseases, they check and hospitalize our compatriots if necessary. There are also people with diabetes who need insulin and are provided with the necessary dosage,” said Anahit Avanesyan in a briefing with journalists.
According to the minister, the displaced people of Artsakh should be counted in the polyclinics of their temporary residences. People come for more than 40 hours, and there have been cases of death on the road and cases of stroke. “People got on the road exhausted; they were on the road for 40 hours, and such incidents are inevitable,” the minister said. As a result of the explosion in Artsakh, 140 patients are currently in the burn center, and several children are receiving treatment in the Goris hospital.
The numbers are constantly changing, and Anahit Avanesyan said to follow the daily updates from the humanitarian center of the government. The RA Ministry of Health has also begun to collect the educational and employment needs of forcibly displaced medical workers from Nagorno Karabakh for further cooperation.
“Our government is responsible for welcoming our forcibly displaced compatriots with open arms and care. Within a few days, the needs of more than 80,000 people were assessed and provided with accommodation. We will talk about the rest after some time,” Anahit Avanesyan said, answering whether his political team, “Civil Contract,” is responsible for all of this. According to Anahit Avanesyan, the Republic of Armenia has done everything within its capabilities, from security issues to social support.
