On October 2, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina Mariano Vergara, who is completing his mission in Armenia. The RA NA President highly appreciated the Ambassador’s invaluable contribution and heartfelt consistency in the development of Armenian-Argentine relations. The RA NA President expressed his gratitude to the President of Argentina Alberto Fernández for addressing the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor from the high tribunes, for being next to Armenian people and supporting them at difficult times. Issues regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians forcibly displaced by Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting.
The Ambassador of Argentina noted that he is leaving Armenia with very warm and, at the same time, heavy memories. He said that he shares the feelings of the Armenian people these days and called the policy implemented by Azerbaijan towards the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians a tragedy against all civilized humanity. He mentioned that it is necessary to examine what happened at the international level and give adequate assessments. “What Armenia needs today from the international community is not limited to statements, it should be a response in the form of clear actions,” the Ambassador underscored.
The role of the Friendship Groups in the development of inter-parliamentary relations was discussed at the meeting.
