Anna Kostanyan: “They are carrying out a process jointly with Azerbaijan, which, if it is in the interests of Azerbaijan, is neither in the interests of Armenia nor Artsakh.” “Confrontation” (“Areresum”)

October 16,2023 10:30

“The depopulation of Nagorno-Karabakh has never been on the agenda of our plans and political wishes, even the logic of crisis management,” RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at the government meeting. Responding to the observation that, on the one hand, if people do not live on the land, it is irretrievably lost, as it was, say, in the case of Nakhichevan, but on the other hand, did Pashinyan think that the people of Artsakh would become citizens of Azerbaijan, Anna Kostanyan, the guest of the “Aravot”  “Confrontation” (“Areresum”) program, the deputy of RA 7th National Assembly, and a member of the “HayaQve” civil legislative initiative, said that it is no coincidence that such texts are being read. ”

Anna Kostanyan, the guest of the “Aravot”  “Confrontation” program, the deputy of RA 7th National Assembly, and a member of the “HayaQve” civil legislative initiative said that it is no coincidence that such texts are being read.

“The events of these days will be written on the pages of history, and if the culprits are not written directly, the next generations will understand. Therefore, they should constantly create narratives that no such thing existed in their plans. But let’s go to the past.

Unfortunately, our people’s memory is concise, so the people who are active in the public political domain should regularly remember every step, statement, and action of this government that was done, and it was done, in my deep conviction, in a planned way. Those statements and steps should have led logically to today’s situation.”

“Not so long ago, before the war, the Prime Minister’s wife invited Aliyev’s wife to drink tea in Shushi within the framework of a fake peace agenda,” Anna Kostanyan pointed out an example. And society, under the influence of similar narratives, was beginning to adapt to the reality that was to be created later, that is, to feel that it is normal; maybe such a moment may come when Aliyev’s wife or Aliyev will come to drink tea in Shushi…”

In response to the observation that it was not Nikol Pashinyan but Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan who signed the decree, according to which the Republic of Artsakh will cease to exist by January 1, 2024, the member of the civil legislative initiative “HayaQve” reminded in what situation it was signed that decree and controversially considered whether the president had the right to sign a document ratifying the dissolution of the state. Some circles in Artsakh and Armenia claim that the depopulation of Artsakh was accelerated by the fact that they ignored Azerbaijan’s ultimatum that if elections were held and Samvel Shahramanyan was elected, they would start an “anti-terrorist operation.”

Meanwhile, in the resolution adopted on October 12, the members of the PACE Azerbaijani delegation mentioned another motive in trying to justify their action, not the change of power in Artsakh. And resolution 2517 (2023) on the Humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh now states that the situation escalated after the killing of Azerbaijani civilians and law enforcement officers by a mine explosion (a contributing factor to the escalation of the situation was the killing of Azerbaijani civilians and law enforcement personnel in a mine explosion and Azerbaijan took the decision to launch this show of force).

Why do those Armenian circles, contrary to the official reasoning of the Azerbaijanis, continue to try to blame the government of Artsakh? Anna Kostanyan said in particular: “It is a self-justification because, after 8-9 months of blockade, an objective question is asked to the RA government, what was done to lift the blockade of Artsakh? Of course, they have no excuse because they are jointly carrying out a process with Azerbaijan, which, if it is in the interests of Azerbaijan, is neither in the interests of Armenia nor Artsakh.

Blaming the president is more logical from their point of view because, of course, they have to make a scapegoat to direct the blame vectors from themselves to the person who dared to take responsibility in that situation.” She summarized: “Everything was planned, done, packaged, and broken on the heads of these people to make them scapegoats.”
