According to Iranologist Emma Begijanyan, Iran does not want to get involved in the Palestinian-Israeli war.
“It will be beneficial for us to end all of this as soon as possible,” answered Iranologist Emma Begijanyan to “Aravot,” which outcome of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict would benefit Armenia. According to the Iranian expert, if this situation continues and the world’s attention is focused on these events, Turkey and Azerbaijan may use this opportunity to achieve their goal.
“Now the world’s attention is directed to these events, even though the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation has been put on the back burner, Turkey and Azerbaijan can use this situation to achieve their goals. That is why it is in our favor that this confrontation ends peacefully before a day.” It should be noted that the experts do not rule out the possibility that Iran will be involved in the Israeli-Palestinian war; they also consider it probable that Azerbaijan will become a target.
Emma Begijanyan said on this occasion. “Iran makes threats that if the ground forces invade, it will not go unanswered, but Iran does not seek involvement. Azerbaijan, of course, is Israel’s close strategic partner. He cannot remain indifferent. In fact, in difficult days, so to speak, Israel helped Azerbaijan; basically one of the main factors of our defeats was Israel itself. Let’s also consider that in 2016, Israeli specialists used drones and later said that they were the Turks, etc. Azerbaijan is considered Israel’s strategic partner; therefore, if a war involving all regional countries breaks out, it is not excluded that Baku will become a target, but the probability of this is minimal.

Like Azerbaijan and Turkey and all countries in general, when they have serious internal problems, they try to divert people’s attention to foreign policy. The same Azerbaijan managed to silence the public with its brilliant victories. Turkey also did it, which has many economic problems. Against this background, they want to unite the Turkish world. If it drags on too much, they may use the opportunity to achieve their evil goal.”
To our question, why does Iran not want to get involved in the war, Emma Begijanyan answered. “Iran said from the first day that we support Hamas, but we did not have any role in planning that attack; we did not show any support. On the other hand, the USA also does not want the war to expand like that; that is why they have repeatedly stated that there is no argument that Iran practically participated in planning these operations. In other words, it is not beneficial to Iran. It may be beneficial to the Prime Minister of Israel in some sense because he had internal problems in terms of reforms. Still, they have formed a government with the opposition, especially during the war period. Internal issues have become 30th in that sense.”
We found out that Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian did not rule out taking preventive measures against Israel. He specifically stated that the “leaders of the Resistance” will not allow Israel to take any steps in the Gaza Strip, it is planned to take preventive measures in the coming hours. If we don’t protect Gaza today, we must defend our cities tomorrow.”
We asked Emma Begijanyan how to interpret these statements, and she answered. “They always say that. The countries directly on Israel’s border are considered a zone of resistance. They always threaten, but Iran does not want to get involved in all cases. Many times, at the highest level, they declare that they support it, but they have nothing to do with it. They consider it the Palestinians’ right but have nothing to do with it. In Iran, there are severe criticisms at the government level and demonstrations, but in all cases, they have no desire to get involved in the war because it is not known how and when it will end.”
