The Head of the RA NA Armenia Faction Seyran Ohanyan began his speech during the parliamentary briefings on October 26 by quoting two articles of the current RA national security strategy.
According to him, the first is the prevention of the Genocide, the responsibility of protecting the population of the RA and Nagorno-Karabakh is one of the cornerstones of our foreign and defense policy. The second one is ensuring the security of Nagorno-Karabakh. While acting from the position of peaceful settlement of the conflict, the RA as the guarantor of the security of Nagorno-Karabakh supports the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh in protecting the population from military aggression and coercion of Azerbaijan.
The RA will prevent any attempt to annihilate or deportation the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Answering the journalist’s question about the cancellation of the Pashinyan-Aliev scheduled meeting in Brussels at the end of October, Seyran Ohanyan stated. “The meeting planned for the end of October in Brussels did not take place because of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The President of Azerbaijan did not want to leave for Brussels.”

According to him, Azerbaijan received what it needed from the West. “At this stage, it has achieved its goal. I think that in the future processes, it will put the emphasis on concluding a peace treaty with the Republic of Armenia, one of the main objectives of which is undoubtedly the continuation of pressure on Armenia within the framework of the unblocking of the infrastructure of the so-called Zangezur Corridor”.
The Head of Armenia Faction expressed conviction that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has not been resolved. “The conflict has not been resolved because the Republic of Azerbaijan has shown its behaviour that it rejects all the agreements, talks to us with the context of force and depopulating Nagorno-Karabakh, but has not solved this problem itself. In this regard, we should state that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has not been resolved,” he noted.
According to Seyran Ohanyan, there is no alternative to negotiations in the existing international relevant format.
Regarding the Crossroad of Peace draft announced by the RA Prime Minister, he said. “Becoming a crossroad of peace is the best wish of the RA authorities and the Armenian people, there is no one in Armenia who does not want peace. But the peace agenda at the moment, I think, is another manifestation of the cunning steps and continuous deception carried out by our opponents – the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem.”
