Recently, I welcomed Artur Chakhoyan, a social activist, in the Parliament, who continues his fight against corruption, revealing the gaps in Yerevan Municipality’s activities.
In response to his active revelations, he has been targeted by the current authorities and subjected to persecution and attacks carried out with clear instructions. This is evidenced by numerous publications on the incident.
Together with A. Chakhoyan, we touched upon the urgent need for the continuation of his activities on discoveries, which may give him an incentive to save the city budget in the future.
I expressed my willingness to support him in all possible ways, to prevent his right to freedom of speech from being undermined.
In meetings with my international colleagues, I will continue to raise the issue of protecting the rights of Arthur Chakhoyan.

I believe that the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia should conduct a deep and objective study of the case, recognizing Chakhoyan as an injured party, rather than pressing charges.
Official Report that the unidentified persons tried to retaliate against Chakhoyan under the fictitious pretext of providing some information to Azerbaijani sources attests to the inactivity of State institutions and the existence of the institution of self-judgment.
This is unequivocally reprehensible and means that the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, and the Prosecutor General of the RA, Anna Vardapetyan, have a tremendous work in bringing the case to a fair investigation, which I will myself continue to follow closely .
