I highlight our cooperation with the international partners. In practice we have necessity of improving behavioral serious changes, as well as professional capacities: The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan said, welcoming the Program Director of the US Embassy Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Alexis Haftvani, the Chief Executive Officer at International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) Jennifer Pierce-Weeks and the Chief Operating Officer at IAFN Programs Morgan Moeller.
The meeting took place on October 31, where the member of the Committee Zaruhi Batoyan also participated.
The purpose of the visit to disclose the problems regarding the recording and the examination of the domestic and gender-based violence cases during the meetings with different institutions of Armenia, which exist in the legislative field and in legal practice.
“Our problem is not hiding the problems, but to disclose them and give right solutions in legal practice. I am sure that as a result of the meeting with other institutions, you will have disclosing talks to help us in this difficult process,” Heriknaz Tigranyan said, thanking the attendees for readiness and initiative to cooperate.

“We are happy for taking part in this meeting. We are familiar with the important works done by the Committee, especially, when it relates to the works being done with the victims of domestic, gender-based violence. This meeting held in the National Assembly was a priority for the Association. Our goal is the education and the training on expertise, as well as the support of the victims subjected to various violence,” the Program Director of the US Embassy INL Alexis Haftvani said.
The Chief Executive Officer at IAFN Jennifer Pierce-Weeks informed that about 66.000 nurses from 30 countries are included in the Association.
Emphasizing the cooperation with the international partners, Heriknaz Tigranyan stressed that professional serious skills and abilities are required from the expert in order not to double victimize the victim.
Mentioning that reforms of the judicial system in Armenia are underway, Zaruhi Batoyan underscored that there is a problem of examination of the specialized cases and the judges’ education. According to her, the reforms being underway should be observed in different components, attaching importance especially to the part of examination within the framework of the issues under discussion, During the meeting the international experience was presented and discussed.
After the meetings and discussions, concluding workshop is designed, during which the results of the research and the study of experience of Armenia, outlining the priorities of further works.
Proposals on the improvement of the legislative or legal practice will be presented.
